Some retreat designers were chatting about the El Monte Sagrado resort in Taos, and I chimed in...
"the best time is late May thru mid-summer for flowers in Taos. If you come, be sure to pop by the Overland Sheepskin company north of town. They have extra-beautiful wildflower gardens as well! Gardens are a rare treat in Taos... northern new mexico has some real food gems too. also, there are smaller B&Bs in town that are very special too. El Monte is better for large groups I think. They can be a bit shocking though, let's be honest... and exciting for those who are into it... there is one exquisite bungalow room devoted to a sortof sex temple. it'd be perfect for a tantric retreat. The spa is gorgeous, treatments done inside a kiva. But there are a LOT of real animal hides too. It's like a West Texas rancher and a haremgirl from Shagrila made a baby. in the best way. but maybe not for vegans.

Last week, I gave a tour of Taos Plaza and a talk on the Murals of Taos for the 100th Anniversary celebrations of the Taos Society of Artists. There was an awesome flamenco group that opened the afternoon lectures, and I caught a few snaps of them with my iphone before I went on! Such great ladies, and performers!
This night was the BEST night in Taos in a LONGGGGGG time. And more than a few people stated they were surprised it took 40 years to discover the awesomery of non-hangable art. I am so glad its there now! Thank you guys and KUDOS on a job well done! xoxoxox

This past week was the BEST time! UNM-Taos brought in visionaries from around the world, including Bryan Bell -
the founder of both SEED Network and Design Corps, Michael Reynolds of
Earthship Biotecture, and Illac Diaz of Liters of Light. It was an opportunity for sustainability designers and advocates from around
the world to come together with the express intent of sharing ideas and
helping each other grow. I think it's an incredible step that UNM-Taos
is making towards putting New Mexico on the map as a leading place in
the world for Sustainability! We are, and we have been for more than
1000 years!
I got to host the event, and it was an amazing experience!
