The gorillas at the Biopark are such extraordinary creatures. More than once, I've sat myself down at the viewing glass, been patient, and had one finally amble over to me and spend some time just sitting together, looking at one another. I love the Biopark. It connects me with the beauty of nature and with the spirits of these beautiful creatures we share this planet with. Though I hate any creature to be in a cage, I want them to live happy, healthy lives. And I think they do here. Thanks guys for all you do for these furry beings. ♥
I have been waiting so patiently…
(Well, at least on good days)
A month or so ago
I painted a bunch of tiny cards
to trade with women all over the world
as a part of Women in Creativity month in Albuquerque.
Today, when the mailman came, he rang the doorbell...
I knew something exciting was happening...
And it was better than the package from Target that he delivered.
Nestled behind the parcel,
in front of everyone's mail but mine...
a thick envelope...
from The National Hispanic Cultural Center…
I knew what was inside...
I ripped open the envelope, excitedly, to find…
a present to unwrap!!!
And when I did just that, a treasure map to unfurl...
Filled with tiny art prayers from women around the country...
And now it's on my altar.
Intact and whole,
with each card, a promise for a new discovery.
Because my tears won't let me look just yet.
On 7:30 AM by Rachel Preston in My Art
In yet another effort to allow myself space to paint, I am participating in 516 Arts' Albuquirky Little Houses Silent Auction on May 2.
My house design was dreamed, so it's a bit odd... even for me.
The roof is the sky full of stars. The home is the color of the New Mexico sky. Part of it, three sides, looks like a normal house. But the back side (at least in my world) is a double arrow blessing symbol. The more subtle arrow is from the ground to the sky, in sky blue. The red arrow, passing from the sky through the chimney and bouncing back into the house from the side edge, is a lightning bolt of Source energy, decorated with gilt gold, venetian glass, turquoise, mother of pearl, and tiger's eye.
This tiny house is a house blessing, from my architect's heart to yours...
May the person who calls it home find that it is filled with the essence of everything that makes them feel safe, loved, and cared for.
Blessed be.
